Introduction to “Action Learning”
- Action learning is a method centred upon the development of one´s own teaching through experimentation and reflection.
- The method has roots in “action research” but is not directed at publishing results.
-The aim is to develop the practical knowledge of the involved teachers.
- “Unlike theoretical knowledge which stands at a distance from the world practical knowledge has a close relationship to its objects, the practical situations in which it is shaped and applies” (Plauborg et.al. (2009): Action learning)
- In other words action learning is as well closely related to practice as focused on developing an analytical perspective on practice.
- Teacher expertise is professional knowledge of a practical nature.
